Does Anyone Else Do This?

My husband & I can't watch anyone play guitar (PBS specials, concerts, Mountain Stage, etc.) without trying to identify the guitars being played. We get really irritated when they pan the guitar, and stop just short of the headstock, then switch to another shot.

Just wondering.

I should be doing something more constructive with my day, but I've run out of things to do... Wish I was home playing guitar....

LOL, i can see i'm not alone in this...i can't help but try to ID any guitars i see in person on tv or at the movies...i'm also a photographer and do the same thing with IDing cameras or trying to figure out the methods that were used to get a particular shot... :blink:

Even worse, I'm a graphic designer, and I compulsively identify fonts...in books, magazines, signs, commercials.

I am a photo researcher, so when I see any historical movie I can't stop myself from always looking for mistakes.  Sometimes it even makes it hard to follow the story.  :o

i also always seem to be interested in what kind of guitar is being played.  at it irritates me if i've never seen it before.  then i'll go to the web and try to find out what it is.  lots of people play custom guitars these days and that makes it really hard to know what they're playing.  a few examples are Tracy Chapman, Lyle Lovett, and John Sebastian....just to name a few.

it's just a goofy guitar player thing!!!  there's no hope for us!!! :blink:  :huh:  :lol:

I do it....then I add whatever other small tidbit I know about the artist.....and I know it's only interesting to me.....my wife or kids don't wanna hear it, but I ramble on. I can't help it.
