As promised, here’s a sound sample of both the L-31 (first half of video) and Ramirez 4E.  It’s a crappy ambient sound video (so you can also hear the fan and the clock and the traffic), and the angle is a bit weird, which makes my left arm look kind of detached.  Still does not really do justice to the sound on either guitar, but here’s some notables:  L-31 (spruce/rosewood) is drier and woodier with fewer overtones.  It is quieter with a smaller dynamic range, possible due to the shorter resonance and/or the low action on the neck.  But it has a pleasing and well-balanced sound.  Ramirez (cedar/rosewood) is darker and thicker with long resonance and more overtones.  Possibly the truer sound comes through on the video when I play harder…the dynamic range is a lot wider and does not seem to pick up well on the video (it was my iPhone 8, so….). Both guitars, especially the Ramirez, sound more articulate in person.  I love both..they are complementary to each other. Excerpt is Air for the G string by JS Bach, arr. by Per-Olov Kindgren

Hi, Paraclete.

Thank you for the video. I enjoyed your playing, the guitars and your descriptions of what you hear as you are playing them.

Really enjoyed that comparison Paraclete. That one long reach near the beginning - I felt that!
