Hi all,  first post here!  Im in the market for a 12 string and curious if anyone can give me a ballpark figure on a stripped down larrivee custom (I’m not a fan of bling).   Alternatively,  I’m looking around at some used l-03-12s,  but am unsure if the body size will work for me.  Ideally, I’d like an OM or slightly larger body- definitely not a dread or jumbo.  Don’t have a lot to spend,  so a custom guitar may be out of reach, but I thought I’d ask.  Don’t know of anywhere to get my hands on an l body to try.  Thanks for any help.  Oh, and donuts!

Overall size wise, there is little difference between L and D.  Both are relatively big guitars.  There may have been some OM 12 strings made...  or I may be misremembering that.

I forget what I paid for the last D-03 12 I had, but it was several years ago and was stupid cheap...  around $700 with case, I think.

For another point of view, the L body has a tighter waist than a D shape, so lots of folks find it more comfortable than a dread. While it is larger than an OM, I don't find it any less comfortable.

Good luck and welcome!

And a quarter inch or so thinner, which though it doesn’t sound like much, makes a real difference.

That 16” lower bout is a killer for me.  But obviously, not for most.

I have a custom 12 string Larrivee with a Venetian cutaway and Mahogany top (LV03MT) that is 15 years old. This can be both a cannon and quiet guitar and I looked for a long time before I ordered this guitar.

Zero regrets and I have never read or heard about another person with this same guitar. I did play a used one without the cutAway and with a hog top but mine was still nicer, at least to me.

I haven’t seen or played an OM 12 string but like the L better than a dread or jumbo body.

Thanks everyone! I found an L-04-12 on reverb for $1300
with a k&k trinity pickup and couldn’t pass it up.  Hopefully the L shape will work out ok - haven’t owned anything approaching dread size in a long time.
