Thought I'd post a vid of my arrangement of the great Beatles tune. It's 4.8 MB so dialups will need to save it to their hard drive if they want to see.

Thanks everyone. A great melody for sure. I just never get tired of it. A lot of Beatles music is like that to me.
Very kind of you to do that for unclrob there Looking For Larri. I've been to Rob's cave. He's got all kinds of cool things in there, but he needs to get them Tally boys to run him a cable! Let me know if it works for you Rob.

Very nice... gives me inspiration to keep going!

Tom...verry nice!

I love doing Beatles' tunes. Lately I've been working on "I should have known better".

I listen to your "Here comes the Sun" alot....I like your arrangement of that one, too.

Hi,
Nice job.  You are a good player.

But i must comment, that you've completely changed
the harmony of this great song.

You're not playing the correct chord changes
behind the melody.

The chord/harmony is Extremely important!!
I mean,  Its The Beatles!!!

Are you familiar with Beekman's arrangements for
Solo Guitar?
I would check those out if i were you.  You are
certainly capable of playing them.:)

Tom did say "his arrangement", not that he was playing the Beatles' arrangement.

That's true.  He did say that.

But i Very Rarely hear somebody play
any Beatles tune, and simply ignore changes
in harmony completely.

In my opinion, it ceases to be Beatles music.

This is not a cut on Tom.  Its just my opinion
regarding arranging another composer's music.

Its certainly ok to re-harmonize. But it can still
be faithfull to the original "intent" of the melody/
harmony.

I suppose what i'm saying is, it might be good to
start out with a harmonicaly correct arrangement.
Then once you have a grip on that, then begin
to tweak it.
Going into a tune, unaware of the chord movement
is just not a good idea imho.

Now, if Tom did know the chord movement,
and actively chose to disregard the changes
out of artistic decision, well, i have nothing
against that.  I just like the original harmony
better.

Please, if i come across as a know it all,
just slap me around a little, i'll clam up.  :D

Gorgeous. Is there any way you'd share a tab for those of us with lesser talent? ;)

Todd,
I saw your video when someone posted it on one of the forums a couple of weeks ago. You are an incredible player and know so much more than I ever will about the technical aspects of music. That can be a detriment IMO if only technique is focused on. In your case though, you play with great technique AND a great deal of emotion. Kudos man!
I've been arranging tunes by what I hear as I search out the melody on the fretboard. I then add what I "hear" as the appropriate bass notes and pattern. I appreciate your input and thanks for taking the time to help me learn. I'll go back and see what I can come up with.
Please understand that I am a HUGE fan of the Beatles though and I'm sure that John is smiling somewhere when anyone plays his music despite the aptitude. I grew up with the Beatles and knowing John's spirit and love of music, I doubt he's rolling over in his grave at my somewhat uneducated attempt at playing his music. My ability may be off kilter, but my heart's in the right place.

Tom: I very much enjoyed it! Keep posting please! What irritates me is listening to someone who is seeing how many notes they can squeeze into one measure. That starts sounding like a catfight ..

Todd: Yours is the first post I've read in the forum who just all out slammed someone. Shame....
