^^^  I recently sold my Epi LP that I only had for six months or so (not a lasting love connection) and decided to try a tele.  These bullets get good reviews and I love the green color (looks like one of those soft dinner mints from the 1950s).  These are on sale for $129 (reg $179) but I scored an “open box” deal for $98 shipped!  I’m prepared to do a setup, some fret work, and maybe replace the tuners.  It’ll be here in a few days.  Will report back with results.

Ok, the tele I recv’d was less than wonderful.  I think the neck was placed on crooked, or maybe the bridge, because the high E falls right off the edge of the board.  A disappointment.  I have it boxed up to go back to MF.   But I ended up finding the same model telecaster on my local CL with upgraded pickups and wiring for less than a new one (mods on cheap guitars never pay off with resale). I scored it and brought it home today.  Very nice guitar!  I’m looking forward to learning how to play a tele!

I’d love to post a pic but can’t figure out the process on this site.  Always says the photo is too large.

@Barefoot Rob, there should be a tele delivered at your door by the end of the day😁. Let me know what you think.

Got the FB oiled up on my new-to-me Squier tele, got the frets polished up like new glass, put on some Wilkinson tuners (very nice, especially considering they only cost $29!), and I sanded off the ugly Squier “Bullet” logo and replaced with a gold Fender one I got online. Not trying to fool anyone, just wanted to dress it up for my own pleasure.  I still have the Squier backplate where the neck bolts on, so anyone would know it’s not a “real” Fender.   But, wow, I really love this guitar.  I don’t ever remember having this much fun playing electric.  The neck profile is perfect for me, and with the work I did on the fretboard, it plays so nicely!  I’ve got about $175 invested in this thing and I’m flat out amazed.

I’m about to turn my Tele into an Esquire.  I never use the neck pickup and like the simplicity of the Esquire set up.  Anyone else here into Esquires?

Some claim the lack of a neck pickup cuts down and on the magnetic pull of the strings and makes them play slightly different?   Did you experience anything like this?

Never had an issue. When I had it set up like an Esquirer I also had a 2 pu tele and my baby 3 EMG tele.People claim all sorts of stuff me I make my own judgement I very rarely listen to other I have heard almost all of it after 50 years as a tech and a working musician.Always judge for your self.

Well, I ordered an Esquire pickguard today; when it arrives the guitar will be off to my local tech for the rewiring job to make my guitar an Esquire clone.  I’m pretty excited about it.

I'm currently electric-less since my tele is at the shop being turned into an Esquire.  The repairman was buried in guitar cases so I might have to wait for a bit.  Oh well, my amp is also in the shop so I'd be playing unplugged.  I'll report back when it's ready, and I'll try my best to post a pic.  This site is the absolute worst for posting pictures -- always says they are the wrong size, etc.

Got my Esquire'd tele back and have been enjoying it!  I think it looks really cool, and I love the simplicity of the setup.  (I miraculously was able to post a pic!)
