donut forget to call your dad!
Remind him of something good you two shared when you were growing up that meant a lot to you.

Mine is too, Rob. I suspect that's the case for a lot of us here.

My father and my mom's father teaching and lessons made me who I am,at least a good piece of me.

'Pater' (latin) is the word father. We get our word 'pattern' from it.

Unless something horrible has happened, early on we unconditionally love our fathers; then we judge them; and later on we get to know ourselves better and at last understand them and forgive them.  And as old Ben Franklin said, Life’s great tragedy is that we are old too soon and wise too late.  If you still have your dad, call him or go see him, and thank him: because chances are he feels like a complete failure in this area of his life.  (The culture isn’t even close to being on his side, or yours if you are a dad.)

Happy Father's Day! Though the holiday has devolved into a phone call or text with my family, I decided I'm going to take my dad out for lunch today.

My youngest daughter dropped in with cards and a bottle of Crown Royal Northern Harvest rye whisky. She always was my favorite!

Happy Father’s Day!  Like many of you, my dad has been gone for years.  Miss him tremendously.

I was reminded of my dad during the recent NBA hoopla with a Canadian based team winning the crown. It was a late winter, Sunday afternoon circa 1985 and I had brought the kids over to visit the grandparents. Nothing much on. We were watching an NBA game. My dad says, "It's 120 to 118. What do they mean by defense?" My dad was a character. Miss you pop.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, eh?

Or, as my mother-in-law once said, "He didn't just lick that off the grass!"

(I have NO IDEA where she came up with that, but it works!)

Heh. I'm taller so it didn't have to fall as far.
