OM 10 RX Moonspruce

Does anyone have experience with this guitar. I have the chance to buy one, but cannot play it beforehand as the shop is too far away.

The Larrivée Company has made a few exceptionally beautiful instruments to showcase at the NAMM 2018 show. Larrivée is known for producing high end luxurious instruments which are available for all players. This OM-10 RX is one of those luxurious instruments with Abalone bridge, fretboard, headstock inlay, rosette and  abalone/ebony purflings. But these appointments are by far not the most important aspects of this Orchestra Model. The back and sides are made of Indian Rosewood and shifts from a uniform grain towards a wild figured pattern on the back which makes it an incredibly beautiful and unique guitar. But there is more to come! The top is made of Moon Spruce. Moon Spruce grows in the Alp regions in Europe and is cut within the last quarter of the waning moon, when the wood quality is as good as possible. Moon Spruce was used by violin master Stradivarius to create the best quality and legendary violins this world has seen. The Moon Spruce top gives this guitar such a clear, dynamic and complex voice which brings out every nuance of the player. A GUESS on my part would be the RX as part of Larrivee internal coding that mistakenly made its way to the label inside the guitar. Just a Guess!!!

A rosewood OM-10? If you're not a hard-to-please type, I can't imagine that guitar disappointing you. Now, if it has been neglected or abused that might make a difference.

I checked the pictures and the RX actually does not show inside the guitar, it just says OM10 and the serial number branded in the wood, so I guess you are right, and the shop somehow picked it up as part of the denomination.

PS Austrian, Italian and Swiss moonspruce apparently is all from the same region bordering those 3 countries (info from Larrivee Service departement).

This guitar was said to have a German spruce top. Don't know if there was a blue moon over Austria at the time but Irving Berlin wrote Blue Skies. Must be a connection there somewhere

If I'm not mistaken, the back of this guitar graced our home page as the GOTM a while back.
The ONLY time the back of a guitar was ever featured on the home page.
