Not too long ago, in the "other guitar makers" forum, I mentioned I had acquired a Martin, from a friend.
Nice 000 with a cutaway, and "barn door" Fishman Aura system- which I quite liked- even with it's faults.
I used it for gig that were dubious with regards to weather (heat) and if other's might be using my guitar.
my theory being- it's only a martin and not a great one at that.

I don't always care to take my beloved Larrivees to some gigs.
My pal, got himself back on his feet and I got his Martin back to him, and was glad to help out.

Meanwhile, I had an older Larrivee D-03e in need of a few repairs, which I carried out.
Including fixing the pre-amp (barn door), fret work, neck adjust etc.

That guitar (like all larrivee's) is really a sweet player.
Having left the world of Dreadnaughts many years ago, it's not always my preferred body shape, however, it seems to have filled in the spot that the Martin was holding.

And honestly, I am happy as hell to use that instead of the Martin.
I did feel a tinge of guilt every time I played it, like I was being a traitor to the brand I have so long been a part of.

The satin finish removes extreme temperature fears, it's built so well and sounds so great whether plugged in or not.
I don't gulp when some one asks to play it.
I can manage the D shape on such occasions.
And like others I " love those Canadian made Larrivee guitars"     :cheers

Not sure if this fits the tread but I've been thinking of dreads lately.

I was wandering away from dreads, trying some smaller bodies for a while.  I recently came across a 1999 D03 for sale, and was reminded why dreads are so popular.  I brought it home and love playing it, hearing that big voice again.

I hadn't played my D-05 for about a year due to the damage I inflicted on it. Got it back a couple of weeks ago after getting it repaired. So nice to have it back. I had to make do with my 1975 Martin D-35 for a dread.   :whistling:

That's too bad, man... I really feel for you...  :crying:

Well you'll just have to run out and buy some more. We depend on you!   :beer

sold a Taylor, a Martin and a Godin this past week.
enough is enough, then it's too much.
however, as I commiserated with another player this evening-
we don't have boats, motorcycles, snow machines, don't smoke, or gamble or drive big trucks-
we just play guitar- first one, then another, then another.

what's wrong with that?
wife is happy we're home noodling on guitars rather than on... oh sry.
nuff said.

I do like playing my old D-02, it sounds as good as any Martin or Taylor I have had. Don't care what anyone says or feels about it.Though it's all been positive comments so far.

Agreed, my early 2000's D-02E is still my #1 acoustic.  Just love the big sweet sound, haven't found anything for 4x more cost that I like better.
