I first heard about Larrivées five years ago, when a much-more musical friend bought one for his daughter, who'd gotten deep into learning music.

I've lurked here most of that time, learning a lot from the discussions and the interactions between enthusiasts.

I was going to write despite, but instead I'll say because of my own degree of skill, I decided the time had come. Please excuse the relative quality of these it-just-arrived photos.

The packing paper is still strewn around.
Very nice guitar. I also waited several years to get my first Larrivee.
When the time has come, and the guitar presents itself, we are all helpless to resist.

I'll have you know I folded a lot of that paper. It's on the bench, under the case. The sheets on the floor are escapees.

This was a bit of a challenge. It's hard to get a phone picture that conveys the color.

I did a closeup of the grain -- it almost looks like it's woven, and it has a 3D effect. A Woodworking Network post quoted the owner of the Gilmore Wood Company in Portland, Oregon, said of Grevillea robusta (known as silky oak, silk oak, silver oak):

Gilmer said it is rare to see the Grevillea or Cardwellia species in the United States. "Those species, also known as lacewood, are noted for their large medullary rays and a silvery grain on the radial surface, which is generally why people like them."

 I just put a down payment on an OM-03 Canada 150. Maple leaf inlays. Beautiful tone. It's on lay-away so I should get it around Christmastime!  :donut2

Hi! New guy here. Beautiful guitar! I just bought one of these myself through 12fret in Toronto. Should arrive here any day. Can't wait. How are you liking yours so far?
