A client brought me his great buy a 68 Martin D28 Brazillian {700.00},nice straight grain. The bridge was starting to pull up and an some idiot who owned it before instead of having the job done right had put super glue then added white glue to adhere it back down.It has taken me 4 hours to clean the top.

Everything but a nail gun nail,Nuts and Bolts, assorted srcew's,assorted glue's and other crap but this was the first time it took me 4 hours to clean just the top.I took the torch and razor to the bridge bottom about 45 min. to clean it.

Charge them accordingly and make them aware of it.   :beer

Well, good that you were able to clean it up, finally, without structural damage.  Would be interesting to see some pics of the process and the outcome.

Just remember to practice the Zen of guitar repair. If someone hadn't foolishly tried to fix it so poorly, you wouldn't have had the chance to do it and make a buck in the process! Ommmm

Ta know, I have a 1973 Guild F-212 that needs a neck reset...

That would probably involve even more cursing than stupid-glue on a Martin bridge

+1 for cussing!

You'll also need to check the top around were the fingerboard is attached to the top,if there is any wood cracks the neck block my have twisted.

Sometimes I think there are cases where an individual just doesn't know what he doesn't know. I inherited a 1964 Martin D-21 that years ago had the bridge pulling up at about a 45 deg angle while under string tension. Five years ago when I inherited the guitar the bridge was setting *almost* flat on the top, so I know that the person who owned it tried to glue it back down just like he would clamp any other pc of wood. You would have to know the person to understand why he attempted his own repairs. To him, a glue joint on a guitar was no different than a glue joint on a cabinet. A very old gentleman, raised in poverty in the South, figured he could fix it "good enough" just like he did everything else he owned. I'm just glad he never got around to trying to install the new frets I found in the case pocket!

BTW, that D-21 needed a neck reset, bridge removed and reglued, fretboard replaced due to the extreme depth of the divots, new frets, several side and back cracks repaired, and new tuners. I would not sell this guitar for any price because of the sentimental value it holds with me.
Happily married to the woman of my dreams and looking forward to growing old together.<br />Truly,God has smiled upon this simple man.
