I've owned a Larrivee acoustic now for almost 20 years and it's been a fantastic guitar.  About a month ago I traded a guitar for a 2011 RS-4 and was blown away by the quality and playablity of the guitar.  The guitar I traded (62 Fender Hot Rod Strat) was a great guitar but this one is so much nicer in every way.

Fast forward to today, I just received my second Larrivee electric 2010 RS-2, a lower model but just as nice quality without some of the bells and whistles.  I working man's guitar so to speak.  I actually love them both equal and they are truly works of art.

You can still buy guitars of lesser quality for more $ but hopes for Larrivee electric as great as they are have been dashed!

Behavior is a very strange thing and, when it comes to guitar buying, no guarantee of quality.

Scraps! Their line has been discontinued - from their Website "OUR ELECTRIC SERIES IS CURRENTLY SUSPENDED WHILE WE FOCUS ON OUR ACOUSTIC LINES" - call it what you like, spin it how you like!

What's the sense of me raving about the RS4 every chance I get if you can no longer buy one. Its even worse than raving about a 50's Gibson - at least they (for now) offer copies

There were more than a few of us, this time 4 years ago or so, really looking forward to an ES Style electric or an electric Bass - not no more - Dashed!

Dashed hopes and all ( ) that is one fine looking RS4 that Mr. grolan1 has picked up. And an RS2, as well. And a Larrivee` acoustic. The tri-fecta.

Was that just us being hopeful, or was Larrivee really working on something? I'm not so sure they had gone very far down that road. I'd love it if they did, but I'd also understand if they decided not to.

Most guitar players have headstock-itis. I'll admit that I do to a fair degree. We gravitate toward what we know or what we've heard of - we have a comfort level with the known. Not too many electric players have had any contact with a Larrivee electric guitar - whether from the 1980's or from the ones made from 2009 or so on...

That's one cool thing about the project my buddy and I just finished. Every guitar is a Larrivee!

Most guitar players have headstock-itis.

In addition to what you said, many people will not spend $2500 + on a new Larrivee electric. Despite the obvious high quality, the name doesn't seem to resonate with luxury or high end. Which is a shame, Larrivee cuts no corner to make the best guitars they can. What more could you want?

I mentioned in another thread that I've taken my RS4 to get a setup. The tech who's very well known, has his own shop now but has worked in all the big name stores for 20+ years. When he opened the case said, oh I heard they made electrics. *shrugs* looks nice. As if it was a Chinese knock off.

It's a shame when you see a mint RS4 sell for like $1200 USD yet Gibson sells an aged reproduction LP where they actually sand the paint off and ding it for over $10k USD.
