Like Waverly, etc. do you oil them occasionally? If so, what do you use.

I have heard that oil just makes them collect dust and other crud that gums them up over time. Sometimes when they are new, open back tuners are a little difficult to turn. I just use my Larrivee string winder to turn them a bit and loosen them up...

I use the jelly sold for guitar tuners but I make sure to wipe off any excess because it will collect gunk. If you leave your guitar out, I wouldn't use anything at all and just be sure to clean the dust out of the tuners occasionally.
