Somewhat out of the loop; when did microdots disappear from the range?

Always liked those as a point of difference. Simple and elegant.

Do some models still come with these from time to time?

I agree that the micro dots look really subtle but elegant.
I owned a Larrivee OM many years ago and it had microdots on the fretboard.
Just found one almost exactly like it 2 days ago and snapped it up.

If I am not totally mistaken (and lord knows I have been many times), the tiny Microdots faded away after the shop in Canada closed?  Did you know they were made of a metal rod?

Wire is used in many inlays.

All 03 models , unless they are a special order, have the microdots.

I only see regular dot inlays on the website for current production.

I recall that about the rod, nice little touch for these guitars.

Wow!  Larrivee Mando?
That one happens to be a Collings, but Gibson has produced the "torch and wire" headstock since the early days of the 20th century.
Silver and pewter (soft, pliable metals) are preferred for this work. I don't know which metal Larrivee uses for their microdots. Perhaps someone here will know the answer to that.
Martin recently produced a limited run (35-50) with aluminum inlays. SS-OMVINE-16.
