battery pack also installed on upper bout side, and it looks like the toggle switch was relocated and converted to single volume and tone controls.  You can see the patches where the old components were located...

they are spectacular guitars, and very underpriced.
that particular one, for my thoughts is not a good one.
some-one had their way with it, and it's not a pretty thing.

I can't find it but, to me, it sounds like a impairment rather than an improvement.

I would think, that if one just had to have active pickups, there would have been a better way to convert than to cut up the guitar like that. Too bad. It can't easily be "un"converted, now.

I might be wrong but, these days, can't one use external components to achieve the same thing without screwing up the guitar?

The battery could have gone in the control cavity and they sell all sorts of hole plug that could have been used.EMG's are not just for metal I've been using them in my guitar since 1975 and I don't do metal.

well there's always this kind of thing.....
a completely bare bones body with a very bad sanding job....some people got no idea....

I was handed a bare bones RS4 body sometime ago.
I went to some trouble getting parts, including original JCL pick-ups from the day.
This is a pic of the guitar after the bridge and tuners went on before I managed to find authentic pick-ups, pots & switch.
