I wrote this song a couple years ago and recorded an electric version of it that I was never really happy with. I was going for a kind of zydeco vibe that just didn’t work.

I recently revisited it with a minimal arrangement: acoustic guitar, vocal and fiddle, and I think it works much better. The guitar is my Larrivée OOO-60 Koa. The fiddle part was played by my oldest and dearest friend, Peter McConnell. Peter is an accomplished composer, and chances are if you’ve played any video games over the years you’ve heard some of his scores. His website is here.

Thank you for listening!

James,
That is very nice!
I also liked the electric version and the electric guitar break in the middle was great.
Technical question - what kind of mic do you use for the acoustic?

Thanks so much for giving it a listen, Mike.

The guitar was recorded with a matched pair of Rode M5s, spaced about 20cm apart, one pointed at the neck/body join and the other about halfway up the fingerboard.
