Well, a trade has been completed and I am now the proud owner of a OOO-40 and a OOO-40R.  Rightly or wrongly, I compare owning these two fine guitars to owning a Martin 000-18 and a 000-28EC.  Maybe not an apt comparison but similar nonetheless.  I fell in love with the Larrivee OOO-40 when I received it last year - such a comfortable, easy to play, and loud (for it's size) guitar - that I just had to see what the EIR version was like.  All I can say is, "I really like it!"

Some folk would want two guitars that are so similar but, in fact, they really aren't. The tone woods really set these two apart - like the 000-18 and the 000-28EC or the D-18 and the D-28.  One definitely has the Mahogany sound and the other definitely has the East Indian Rosewood sound.  The great thing is they both share the same body.  That may be boring to some but it's familiar to me.  I am very happy with two Larrivees in the house - kind of like Yin and Yang. Perfection has been achieved and all within the Larrivee family.

Yes, very nice move.
When I played the L-40M and L-40R last year, I said I could see having one of each.
And you gone and done it with the 000-40s.

Congrats!   nice guitar  I too love the comfort of the OOO size and you are right they are amazingly loud.  They are not that much smaller than a dread...

Nicely done Rosborn! I'd love to play a Larry OOO, but haven't had a chance to see one in the wild!  Knowing a bit about your preferences, I'd wager I'd love one too!  Enjoy them both!

Here you go.  Don't mind my daughter's messy room.  It is a "safe space" away from the four legged children.

You're right, they aren't much smaller than a dread but they feel so much more comfortable to me. I really tried to love the Martin D-18 but my right shoulder would have none of it. Bursitis rules the day. I'm 52 but, in that regard, feel 72...danged high school wrestling anyway.

So cool! - well done and congrats rosborn!
I relish the thought of complimenting my Custom 00-40 (Alpine) with a 000-40 (with an Alpine top as well).

I love them both but I am a Rosewood guy; so, the OOO-40R.
