Yes... getting back to CANADIANS...

...I'm kinda surprised Jack Semple hasn't been mentioned yet, however, I suppose he hasn't had any radio hits (has he?), but what a great singer, player!

This posting started out with: "Okay, question for you Canadians about the popularity of Canadian artists - at least those from "my era"
Never knew that Dylan and the Beatles were Canadians, although like everybody else they probably wannabe as Canada tends to be the seat of all true talent.  At any rate cool thread.

Well, we're really going to have to agree to disagree on that one. I'm a pretty huge Neil Young fan, however, unlike Dylan there is a lot of stuff I just don't like all that much. I have all his albums up to and including Le Noise which left me flat and made me decide it was the last NY album I'd buy sight unseen sound unheard. Haven't really cared for much of his stuff after Harvest Moon and almost none of the things he's done this century other than Prairie Wind although I liked a lot of Psychedelic Pill. I generally prefer his work with Crazy Horse.

Do you also have the so called "missing albums?"  Stars and Bars, Hawks and Doves, ReAcTor, On The Beach and Chrome Dreams .....

Yeah - isn't he a revelation? And he's getting that killer tone through a Roland multi-effects pedal (a V-55 or something like that?) and a Peavey Bandit SS amp! Just amazing. Shows how much tone is in the fingers (and the head and heart)!

The first three on vinyl, On the Beach and Chrome Dreams on CD. I even have Time Fades Away. I was a completist at one time.

Sure but why not Rainy Night in Saskatchewan? That's where he's from.

If we're leaning towards regional celebrities, here's my friend  Rodney Brown. Thunder Bay's own folk star.

If I never make it, I'll still be fine.
