Opinions on an all silver oak guitar.  Given that it is a light wood, I think it could be a great top wood.

Mahogany is used for tops, so are koa and walnut, so your idea isn't too far-fetched...

Only one way to find out unless Jean has tried and decided it doesn't work very well. What's one more guitar Steve?

I have a chambered tele with a Lacewood top and when you tap the top it sounds pretty musical.  They say the felled tree makes a musical note when you strike it with a big stick.  I think Silver Oak would make a good top/back/sides guitar.  I know mine sounds really good as back/sides under a silky Sitka top...

Walkerman, you sly dog! Can't wait to see the final product! Would be nice if we could hear it, too!

Yes ... we are trying to have our two sons, from childhood pictures, inlayed on the headstock.  OM 12 fret with hybrid bracing.
Believe it or not, Walkerwoman said to me one day, "why don't you have a guitar made with our sons on the headstock."  It took me five seconds to get ahold of Jean ...... before she changed her mind.
