Or when the rest of CCR insisted on recording some of their own songs? That was the end of a very good band. Have you heard Mardi Gras?   :yak:

I loved ... still do ... Pendulum.... I think it was one of their best albums, though it did not do too well.

Sure. All the songs were written by John Fogarty. Mardi Gras is the one where the members get four songs each. Tom is gone. Clifford's and Cook's songs are amateurish crap.

And therefore, totally forgettable - I can't remember any of them. I'd have to replay the album and then I'd go, "Oh, yeah...what Tom said - crap."

The only song I remember off the top of my head from Mardi Gras is "Someday Never Comes." Pretty sure that was a Fogarty tune.

It also has Sweet Hitchhiker and a pretty decent cover of Hello Mary Lou but the rest is worse than forgettable cos I remember it. Heck, I bought it. Fogarty hated it so much, he quit his own band and on his next album played all the instruments.

Yes, the "Blue Ridge Rangers".  A great album and well-produced IMHO.

How about when the Beatles broke up to pursue their solo careers?
The whole was always greater than the sum of the parts.
I know they were feuding and yeah, there was Yoko messing things up, but IMHO only Harrison produced anything of lasting value after the split.

The brother of his own mother Ted Nugent.

Of course, he was never very good.

I dunno. Lennon's Plastic Ono Band was pretty damn good rock'n'roll and I love McCartney's Ram.

I tend to agree with Mark.

Working class hero ......
Is a very powerful song IMHO.  I wonder who the '''they" are in that song.  I think Lennon is sensationalizing to make a point.  I'm not sure what that point is though.

As soon as your born they make you feel small,
By giving you no time instead of it all,
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all,
A working class hero is something to be,
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school,
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool,
Till you're so -CENSORED- crazy you can't follow their rules,
A working class hero is something to be,
When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years,
Then they expect you to pick a career,
When you can't really function you're so full of fear,
A working class hero is something to be,
Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV,
And you think you're so clever and you're classless and free,
But you're still -CENSORED- peasants as far as I can see,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
There's room at the top they are telling you still,
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill,
If you want to be like the fool on the hill,
A working class hero is something to be.
A working class hero is something to be.
If you want to be a hero, well just follow me

It was a period he was going through. Very inspired by John Sinclair and Saul Alinsky. At the end of his life, supposedly, he was becoming a Reaganite.  It happens to the best of us when we finally see through the B.S.

I suspect artists have always been political, and liberal.  It is more that we have changed from young liberals to old conservatives.  As the saying goes, "If you are young and not a liberal you have no heart.  If you are old and not a conservative you have no brain."  So, I suspect it is not the artist's who have changed.  Still, old rock and rollers do not really age well.  Seriously, Roger still wails "I hope I die before I get old."  It just seems silly now.

Lately, I'm more likely to be singing, "I'm much too young to feel this damn old."  :crying:
