We of the "western" world seem to forget there are a lot more stringed instruments in the world than just guitars, mandolins, violins and the like.  Yet our instruments are likely in the minority compared to much of the rest of the world, especially, Asia and the far east.  I am really intrigued by the instrument being played by the guy on the far right.  Instead of "fretting" the strings (pushing them against the fretboard) to get his notes, he is doing the opposite; putting his fingers under the strings and pushing them away from the finger board.

Those guys really rock (figuratively).  Thanks for posting that, Ducktrapper.

Became a Shooting Star when I got my 1st guitar.
Back in '66, I was 13 and that was my fix.
Still shooting for stardom after all this time.
If I never make it, I'll still be fine.

Interesting stuff.  Makes me wonder if someone has tried to catalog all the various instruments of the world over the history of man and how the instruments have evolved over time.

I am fascinated by these Asian stringed instruments...  as well as some other instruments a lot of folks have not seen...
