I have owned several Larrivee's and was considering purchasing a used 2003 L-09 on the Taylor guitar forum. When the gentleman sent the pics along, I noticed the new headstocks were satin finished (I knew the neck was going to satin)
This is just my two cents worth, but I think this really cheapens the look of the guitar....one of the reasons I have always been drawn to these instruments was their look of total class.  I guess I will be looking for the older ones from now on!

I felt the same way when I got my 2003 C-09 (with satin neck). But, now I don't even notice it. The guitar sounds too good to worry about the satin headstock.

One thing I did notice though, was that there is a difference in the 'satin' between my C-09 neck and the finish on my L-03 BW. It's feels like they aren't the same finish materials. Does anyone know what the difference would be??

I held one in my hand today at Elderly's......you are right, the "satin" is a little different from the lower end instruments.....more like a semi-gloss or something.....not really all that bad......I take back what I said (at least a little bit :D )
