https://soundcloud.com/rockstar_not/13-pup-combo-demo

Every 12 seconds I try to play the same chord progression with a different pickup combination.

The original wiring of the guitar offered 9 different combinations through the HSH pickup arrangement, 5 position switch, and tappable HB through the push/pull tone knob.

I wanted those Neck + Tail combinations that it didn't have and by adding a tail pickup on switch I got those two and the all 3 pickups on combinations as well.

I used a Matchless 30W amp simulation to make the demo.

The order of combinations in the demo is:
1. 0:12-0:24 N HB
2. 024:-036 N HB + T HB
3. 0:36-0:48 N HB + M SC
4. 0:48-1:00 N HB + M SC + T HB
5. 1:00-1:12 M SC
6. 1:12-1:24 M SC + T HB
7. 1:24-1:36 T HB
8. 1:36-1:48 N SC
9. 1:48-2:00 N SC + T SC
10. 2:00-2:12 N SC + M SC
11. 2:12-2:24 NSC + M SC + T SC
12. 2:24-2:36 M SC + T SC
13. 2:36-END T SC

Way cool, most people have me add the switch to the neck pu but the bridge is just as good.NOW you have so many choice's and you will need ti figure out what combo to use with which tune.

I did the tail pup I guess because I use the neck and middle pups more often, and wanted the tail as a way to add the bit of bite when desired.  Same end result.  If I ever make a guitar from scratch, I think I would do on-off toggles for all the pups.

I'm getting ready to do just that to an Ibanez for a friend. It will have 3 humbuckers, each pu will have an on/off,splitability,in/out of phase.master volumn and tone.Biggest problem will be the layout of the 9 mini toggle's.

That makes my head hurt.  That's gonna be way more combinations than what I have on this guitar.

Maybe there's some large toggle DIP switches you can use to keep things more compact?
