I was doing a bit of research and happened to stumble across this very well written article on the initial release of the current RS4.
Some good background as well, but a well written and lovely comparative bit of reading.

Fun piece to read - thanks for that.

In comparing it to the LP, though, I'm surprised he didn't mention the longer 25.5" scale as another factor in the tone differences (not to mention the feel of the instrument).

Think I'll go play mine now...
