So I walked into the local guitar shop today where I have several guitars on consignment. Just so happened there was a guy there inquiring about my lefty Epi Casino. I decided to let the Casino go because of it's limited upper neck access and the noisy and dull sounding P-90 pickups; I didn't want to get into the expense of replacing them on this guitar.

The guy was asking about trading in a lefty Sheraton that he doesn't play for the Casino, and the sales guy was explaining the Casino was a consignment, so they couldn't do a trade. I didn't know any of this, just walked in and Dan says, "Here's the guy that owns the Casino!"

The Sheraton was in it's case on the counter while we talked for a minute about my "bottom dollar" price for the Casino. Finally I said, "What's in the case?" He opens it up, and it's 20 year old Sheraton in really great shape (other than the usual oxidation on the gold parts and pickup covers). I said, "Wanna trade?" And he said, "Maybe, let me look at the Casino again."

So he let me also take the Sheraton in the amp room to plug in. Strings were very old, dead and impossible to keep in tune, but everything worked and the pickups sounded really nice. Neck was straight, frets had almost no wear on them. He decides he'll do the deal, and I'm good with that, too. I tell him he can keep his case, since I didn't have one for the Casino.

After we get all done, I find out he's one of the local radio talk show hosts that does the afternoon show - I listen to him all the time and love his humor and banter! I knew he played guitar, because he's mentioned it on the show, but I had no idea he played lefty! Very cool - feel like I've made a new friend (we traded business cards, and I'm definitely going to hit him up to go to lunch sometime or something - he said he wants to split my "commission" with the store as part of the trade, but he didn't have any cash on him today).

So, to wrap up ... got the Sheraton home, restrung with slightly heavier strings, lowered the bridge a little and this thing plays and sounds like a dream! Love it - and the fact that it's 20 years old - one of the great "Made in Korea" models!

A few pics...

In the last pic the Sheraton looks larger, but it's an optical illusion, caused in part by the larger "Mickey Mouse" horns...those guitars are the same, 335 style dimensions.
