I finally got my wrist & fingers working together to produce a consistently good roll!! I've been working on it for ages, and all of a sudden it happened and it was like...aaaahhh, so that's how it works. :D

Now I hope it is still there tomorrow...

Congrats Deb...i have no idea what a roll is but it sounds like maybe a rapid strumming method of some sort or possibly you like to roll on the ground while playing your guitar...either way it sounds like fun.

It's like a really fast arpeggio. The chord is picked one note at a time, but very quickly. There's probably a better name for it, but I don't know it.  ;)

Is this a "Backwards Roll"?  I have been working on this for about 3 or 4 weeks.  Sometimes it comes easily and then other times my fingers get all snarled up.  Comes and goes...

On a Chet tune I play, there's a "banjo roll" (by far my weakest lick in the whole song", and I have seen some "hybrid pickin'" instructions that sure remind me of that banjo roll. It's like a scale, played kinda fast, but using each successive note on a different string than the last....make sense? Anyway, Deb, is that what you mean? Indeed....requires patience and practice. Now....to reverse and go from high to low.....
