electrics nut width

I think about getting an RS some time. Are any of Larrivees electrics made with 1 3/4" nut? I don't think I could tolerate a narrow neck.

It's 1 & 11/16th" or 43mm but oddly feels like the Larrivee acoustic neck more than any other electric I have come across

Yes, the spec on the RS-4 is as Andrew said. However, the spec on the Bakersfield is 1.75". As he said though, the RS-4's neck feels great. I much prefer the wider 1.75, even on electrics, but I have no problems with my RS-4 and RS-2 necks...they feel, well...perfect.

Thanks for the response gents. Perhaps I should have a look at the bakersfield.

I think the neck is the best aspect of the Larrivee electrics. Moving from my L-09 to the RS-2 is not an issue at all. The necks are very much from the same family. If you are very comfortable with a 1.75 Larrivee acoustic neck then you are going to be very comfortable with a Larrivee electric neck.

AFAIC, it's important to remember that (solid body) electric guitars are not acoustic guitars with pickups.

Double-check with the Bakersfield. I was told by Larrivee that they wanted to consolidate the nut-width on their electrics to 1-11/16".

Makes sense to me. I can't see a big demand for wider necks on electric guitars.

Love the 1 3/4" width on my new Bakersfield. Most teles are too darn skinny for me. I had a "pencil neck" J45 in the 70's that drove me crazy...1 9/16" wide at the nut! I was trying to learn to fingerpick and found it very frustrating. Finally got rid of it and ever since I've preferred wider necks.

I initially had a hard time adjusting to the Bakersfield but have learned to love the extra room on the fretboard. I'm starting to enjoy it more than the RS-4.
Both are outstanding guitars though.

I read last night somewhere, that the newer RS4's are sporting narrower neck, less like and acoustic guitar, of course this morning I couldn't find the link.
The review basically mentioned electric players found the necks were too beefy and were looking for thinner (faster) necks.
How interesting, back in the early seventies, us newbies to the larrivee acoustic world felt the same way about the chunkiness of the neck (mass) after playing Matrings and Gibsons all our lives...

1 11/16" is a good "compromise" ... especially if the neck isn't super thin from front (fretboard) to back. My RS-4 is from around 2010, has 1 11/16" nut, and is very comfortable - doesn't really feel super thin or chunky (I have other guitars at both extremes, so I can compare). Pretty much the exact same neck on my RS-2 - only difference is it's satin rather than gloss like the RS-4.
The Bakersfield I had was definitely chunkier, but still very comfortable - again, I have a few 1 3/4" necks with Warmoth's boatneck profile (which is 1" from front to back, 1st fret through the other end of the neck ). My Warmoth Tele's neck is 1 3/4" and boatneck profile, and it has the lowest action of any neck I own - plays great - go figure.
