I will play 5 gigs this week-end.
Every one will have at least one Larrivee guitar.
The main acoustic is an early proto-type OM-60 SH (TSB). with LR Baggs Element running through a BBE Acoustimax.
The current electric is a newer RS4 flame maple TSB with ML pups, running through a full on tube fender amp.

Joy and bliss at celebrating guitar tone and feel perfection!

There- glad I got THAT off my chest!

CD release early September, cover shot is the GTOM of me playing the P-09 a few months back.

tis the season, not uncommon to d 2 shows a day over the summer, especially on long week-ends.
afternoon shows, then some travel to an evening gig.
but really> reading about the folks around here who are "retiring", I'm envious.
Tonight on the way home from gig 1 of 5, I heard myself mutter, I'm sick of it.

did any of us know when we were in our teen rock or folk groups we would STILL be doing this for a living at 60?
still I will be complaining soon enough when january comes and there's only one or two a week-end.

and really? Whats to complain about? I load guitars, drive to a venue, play, get paid, drive to another venue and do that again.

many would kill to do this, sometimes though, after a few decades of it, it starts to feel like it's killing me.

nuff said, home with a glass of wine, and playing one of the eighties RS4's single coil, short scale wanking...

I never thought I'd make it past 30.Here I am at 57 still payin my bills with music. What gets me is all the lifting, loading, driving to the gig, unloading setting up.playing or running sound, tearing down rolling up cable's,lifting, loading, driving home from the gig, unloading. And saying the same thing as you,almost...I'm getting to old for this s**t....BUT.... I can't stop myself.I will admit this the duo is so much easier to deal with then a 5 piece band.

absolutely!!! duos are the very best!

Ihave managed to just have to load guitars and "personal" gear over the last few years, simply by only playing venues that provide production.
but ya, you could say, "I play music for free", you're paying for me to load in, set up, tear down and load out".
the other nice thing I'm enjoying is, one, two or MAXIMUM three hour shows, and I NEVER play much past 10 PM, so there are a few benifits to being a geezer in the biz, that and not having to deal with drunks....

Well, I took a different route. Spent 35 years with the federal government, kept playing and writing and am looking forward to doing a lot more now that I've retired. Got an offer on our house this week. Made new arrangements with the sellers in Chelem. Crossed fingers that this one doesn't fall through. Mexico here we go!

Congrats DUCK on the pending sale.

Kevin,ya that's a standard joke we get paid to set up and tear down.

Whats really funny is here in Tally town I'm making a tad bit more then what I made in the 70's for a 3-4 hour gig.

The great part is I'm playing with someone who I truly enjoy playing with and playing with him has made me a guitarist.

Best wishes with the sale Ducktrapper.

Thanks. There are some conditions and hopefully all goes well this time. Since we haven't had much of a summer, Mexico sounds better and better.

actually I don't know what "tally town" is either... tallahasee?

short scale wanking is playing scales on a short (24&2/3) sclae guitar, like the original RS4 CM's, (my only complaint with the guitar really... -and the unavailability of parts)
