Hey kids #3 arrived today,Thanks Jason. This is a spruce top one.Fit and finish is wonderful a very lite colored mahogany B+S.Some nice feathering in the spruce.ON to the review.First thing first the strings and bridge pins have now been changed out to Dean Markley 14 to 58 Tusq bridge pins installed.Guitar arrived with very low action which I like. After the changes this thing really came to life.Very clean and balanced tone.
Someone wanted me to compare the tone between the Forum and my P Anderson. The Anderson has more bass responce to it the the Forum but this could change the more its been played. As of rite now I can't wait to get her home and put it thru some paces.I would post pix but I don't own a digital camera so please no harrassment.Love ya BYBYE for now...... :D

Hey Uncle Rob,

Sounds like we have our very own Dick Dale!    I hear he use power wires for strings too! I'm part of the .12-.54 brigade. My fretting fingers hurt just thinking about .14-.58.  afro

However, I just got Jody Fisher's 30 Day Guitar Workout book/DVD. Maybe I'll be moving up in gauge in a few weeks...

What really helps when using heavy wire is that you have to have very low action........I DO I DO.......... :D

Everyone should give those Dean Markley's that Rob plays a try. They really don't feel as big as they sound.

Really. I had them on my OM and they felt and sounded great. Put other sets of similar guages and I felt every millimeter. They just feel lighter than they are IMO.

Phil you shouldn't have a problem. :)
One of the reason why I use the Dean Markley is that there a med tenson string.D'Addario,GHS,Martin and a bunch more are a high tenson string.Ernie Ball's are the low tenson strings.

Congratulations on the guitar, Rob.

Everyone who's interested,
I just ordered some of the Alchemy GoldPhos from Musician's Friend, but they are light gauge...on sale for $9.99 a set.  I'm looking forward to trying them.  (For some reason, the mediums were more expensive...probably because they are well-stocked with lights.)

Music123 has all the Alchemys for $9.99.  $9.49 if you order 5 or more sets.  I should ask Rob what he sells them for.  He always surprises me with his great prices.

I suppose this is a result of 12 frets clear vs 14, but I notice that #4 seems to have less tension than my LV or Martin. I usually use John Pearse strings (not certain of guage, since I'm at work and they're at home) in a light/medium guage. Would I be correct in my assumption that the same strings on #4 would have less tension?
