The Earthworks FW430 is similar to the E/V above ... it'll set you back over $1200.

Note: I will not be buying one.

They use Neuman and other high end mic's>i'd love a U57 Neuman but I don't have $3-5k to spend on mic's.

I've noticed however that since Marshall MXL mics have hit the market, the price of Neumann's have come down quite a bit. Competition is a great thing.

Its funny everyone laughed at me when I would show up with my MXL's until they heard them.Clean and crisp, they don't colour the instrument in anyway, nicebig pickup range.Best $50 I ever spent on a pair of mic's.

They work fine for me too. I bought this one as well.

They threw in a nice pencil mic on top.

A pair of MXL 603 small diaphragm condensers and a V67G LD here. Nice mics and still have some money left over to feed the family.  :winkin:

My set came with the large diaphram and the pencil.Having been a part owner in a studio we did the gambit of mic testing. We ended up with about 30 different mic's.Bought more of some along with a bunch of standard studio mic's.Mic's,amp, keyboard, guitars, bass's and other instruments.Let alone the outboard gear. This was before computers, back then we were using Tascam DA88's and a Soundcraft board.
