I agree with Rob. Maybe you could round the edges a bit to ease them.

Thanks Ben!
Just checking in after I was able to really test this thing out today and couldn't be more pleased.  I was positioned so that I was just a few feet from the drummer (never a good idea) and the guy running sound didn't do a great job but I could hear myself regardless.   The guys I play with said it sounded better than usual today in general (possibly due to me playing more confidently?) then I showed them what I did. Then they wanted to play it and they couldn't believe how good it sounded when playing it as well as out front.
Test complete!!   :nanadance

This idea has got me contemplating. When I go to my regular jam (all acoustic) I sometimes find myself playing too hard so I can hear myself, the problem is I prefer to play with a lighter touch for more dynamic expression.

I just bought this at Home Depot today on Clearance.  I think it will help me to zing down that edge.

Rob,

I'm going to use it like a router, but I have to get a guide affixed around the hole first.  Then I will clean it up with sandpaper and probably finish it off with beeswax.  I want to get the sides as straight a line as possible, so I plan to build up the guide.

Question, I have a variable speed Dremel, should I go with as fast a speed as possible first or go slow?  I don't want to burn, but I know with some materials (perhaps hog) that faster is better when it comes to cutting, and with other materials, slow is better (some metal cutting operations).

edium speed and taped off under the guide. You can get a small piece if plexi glass at least a 1/4 in thick to make the guide.
