Does it look like the minimum number will be met?

The deadline has come... if you want an appropriate (and beautiful) soundtrack while you read on:

Since we are still not at the minimum, I am going to shelve this project.  I will no longer be the organizer for this project and probably not for any future efforts such as this; so if someone else wants to run with it, that would be great.  I would wait a bit of time, however, since, well, we all saw how long this took and folks just aren't jumping on this deal at this point in time.

That being said, I want to thank all of those who were committed to this from the start and were able to see past the intermediary hiccups and even some negativity along the way.  I did chat with some very nice, good people because of this, though, so for me, it wasn't a waste of time.  But at the end of the day, I think some period of time is too long for those folks who have been committed, wanting an instrument, and even passing up potential substitutes, to wait if there is no flow towards success happening.  I would like to thank our dealer, Jason, at Notable Guitars.  I probably have over a 100 emails to him and several long phone calls: he has done great work for us and devoted much of his time towards this.

So go forth, get yourselves an OO!

(Admins, I think unsticking this this thread may be best but I'll leave that up to y'all)

Thanks,
Phil

Thanks Phil. Sorry it didn't work out - it would have been a nice guitar.

Guess I'm meant to take that road-trip to find my dream guitar. I'm within a day's drive of Podium, Elderly and Wildwood. Perhaps in the fall or next spring. In the mean time, will continue to thin the heard and stoke the savings account for that special guitar when it pops up.

All the best to you!

Jack

To you who spearheaded this campaign, thanks for your hard work and dedication. Sorry it didn't work out.

Thanks for you labor Phil....sorry it didn't pan out. I was looking forward to this one.....

Too bad it didn't happen.  I was seriously considering it, with the cutaway, until I saw the delivered price.

But, then reality set in, with some family medical concern$$$$.

Thanks Phil, for your efforts.  Maybe next time...
Play it daily for best results.

Thank you for the effort!!!!

Phil, wait a few months and then try again.  These guitars need to be made.   :thumbsup

It would have been nice Denis, and certainly your Youtube videos with the Forum IV were a HUGE incentive for me to get on board with the Forum VI. But sadly, several of us who waited 2 months to round up the requisite 12 buyers, are now off to our "Plan B" guitar and won't be around for another attempt at the Forum VI months from now. It'll be even harder to sign up a dozen buyers down the road, without re-spec'ing the guitar and driving the price down to some unmentionable price point.

About that "unmentionable price point" I believe there are several factors working against spec'ing / building a forum guitar at play on this forum, with its particular set of rules ...

The prohibition of discussion concerning new guitar prices. Every cost inquiry had to be answered by PM and several of those inquiries came from new members who didn't have the requisite 10 posts to enable the PM feature. Concerning cost, it might be helpful to permit conducting a survey about price points to help guide spec'ing a forum guitar. Several have mentioned that it was the delivered price that turned them away from the FVI build. So what's the make/break price point for a proposed forum guitar?

It is necessary to discuss price sometimes ... and would be helpful to know the moderators position on the no price discussion rule where it comes to building a forum guitar. A rule, which in my view, NEEDS some clarification since Larrivee posts the MSRP on their web site and dealers openly post the MAP! About the need to suspend the rules on occasion, there's a no political discussion rule here, but it was suspended for the discussion of the Gibson factory raid / DOJ situation ...

It would also have been helpful, if the originator of the thread, could have had moderator privileges for the thread, to enable removing off-topic posts, such as the series of Forum V head stock option posts in the middle of the thread and the hostile and negative posts nearer the end of the thread, all of which potentially served to derail the project.

I truly considered the non-cutaway, but at such a large increase over essentially the same guitar in the F-IV it turned me off as soon as I saw the price. I think this happened to many others as well. Add the herringbone on the trim and it would have been 1.5 times as much. A cutaway even more.
That was just too rich for most folks in todays environment. Too bad, it was a great concept. :thumbsup

We also need to consider that Larrivee has increased their pricing for all guitars since the Forum IV.  I am sure you could not get the Forum IV today at the same price then.
