Chicago is home to the first brick and mortar guitar shop devoted to gypsy jazz in the USA: Caravan Guitars

No affiliation, although I've stopped in a few times and it's an amazing shop. Lots of gypsy jazz guitars, everything from student level imports to high-end boutique. I wanted to just walk in and check it out but I ended up spending a few hundred bucks on a fancy pickup, books, picks, etc.

If you're in Chicago, check out the weekly jam sessions. Some well known folks have stopped by on occasion to play a few songs. Some vids of the jam sessions on their website. Not sure if I'm in one or not.
