Some long days but getting closer now.  Class has been great.  Carving the neck body join today and making all the cavity covers.  The design I chose is a compilation of things I like.  A Les Paul type look, Florentine cut, Strat like body carves, set net that is Fenderesque, Wilkinson trem, and two Humbuckers with a 5 way switch.  Gold hardware.  Body is Mahogany with maple neck and ebony fingerboard.

I hadn't drilled the top yet.  I am installing a volume and two tone pots.

Not sure how you could tell from that picture what was in the bottle.  cop

I broke my tailbone and badly bruised my back a few weeks ago.

Whats funny is I'm the long haired hippy type who'd you'd think would make a comment on the pill bottle and I didn't.BUT I knew what they were because I take them too and I remembered that you hurt yourself.Still a brave man for driving any distant with a bad back.

I remembered you mentioning that earlier in the thread. I have taken my share of pain relievers both chemical and herbal.

Well the guitar has been built.  The final day of class is tomorrow.  Things left to do include wiring the pickups, intonation and set up, and plugging it in to see if it all works.  The class is too short to be able to put a finish on it which will be done later.  I'll return home tomorrow night or Sunday and post some pictures soon.

Thanks Roger!  As we like to say its "In the white".

We just put in a state of the art paint booth at the body shop I am temporarily managing and I plan to have the guitar clear coated there after I do all the prep.

Can't wait to see the final product.Drive safely...

Thanks Rob!

Very nice. Have you plugged it in yet? What color are you going to paint it?

Looks great but why is it upside down.

Whats the color going to be or are you thinking natural which would be real nice with the gold hardware.

Didn't want the mojo to run out.  bigrin

It is a one piece mahogany body so I will applying a clear coat after I pore fill which will darken it considerably.  (I saved the scraps to test on.)  The neck is maple and will likely put a little amber tint on prior to the clear.

Thanks Joyce.    Sounds great plugged in.  It was interesting to learn a little about guitar wiring.     As stated above I'll be clearing it with some tint to the neck.  I sold my 52 RI Coppercaster to help fund this so I am very glad the result was good.

Nice!

Interesting that you did a 21 fret neck. Also, is there not a position marker at the 17th fret; or did it just disappear in that photo (don't see it in the other photo either...)?
