Controls: AMP/Electric Blend?

Any suggestions on how to blend the controls on the amp and electric?

Should I turn up the amp to its highest settings and then the controls on the guitar?
I use a VOX Valvetronix VT15.

Set the volumn level on the guitar with the pot opened about 80% thenset the amp's controls.This give you the central control at the guitar not the amp.At 80% open you have room to go up or down in volumn.Set the tone controls were they give you the tone you want,this leave's with the ability to roll off from the treb to bass on the guitar.
