African Blackwood is like an ebony or rosewood? I forget -- I know it's different from Australian Blackwood. Exciting stuff. Hope to see more pics.

+1 Wow what a terrific instrument Carlos.
That Blackwood-set looks simply awesome and the Ziricote fretboard adds a beautiful touch.
I love the detail of the sapwood meeting up with the end-graft - nice touch.
And mr. McQuarry? - great builder and a good choice - well done, please keep us updated will you?

Ziricote fretboard and Pyramid Bridge. Koa binding around the Body and Maple up the Neck.
I have a small collection of Northwood Guitars and this is my first 80's model from John. A little more bling. Larrivee and Northwoods are my favorite's.
I'll post more pictures as He sends them.

Thanks for looking
Carlos

I finally got around to recording my Northwood African Blackwood/German Spruce 00. With just Microphones. A Rode K2 in Figure 8 on the Body and a Audio Technica 450 up on the neck with a little bleed from the vocal in that channel. Figure 8 on the Vocal Avantone CV-12.

Nice recording, I liked the quick psychedelic shot in the video. Good performance and nice sounding guitar.

Wonderful! Like your fingerstyle playing. The guitar sounds great too. Super rosewood sound.

African Blackwood is a Rosewood
Australian Blackwood is an Acacia (like Koa)

Carlos, that fingerboard looks fabulous.  I'm still of mixed minds about this modern trend of including sapwood along the center seam on the back though.

Years ago sap wood pieces would be thrown out.  Now they are considered an upgrade.  Most who don't like it think it will "wear" out quicker than non sap wood, which then would cause structural problems.
