So when I drop $4k on a Country Boy Deluxe, I'll sound that good, right? :rolleye:

a while back, there was a post with someone asking about how to get speed using
a finger picking style rather than a flat pick and wondering if it could be as fast...

here Scott plays with a thumb pick
compare it to the flat picking in the first post.

If anyone would like to practice their flat pick technique, or jump into a partial flat/partial finger pick technique... Jake Cinninger has some videos out that will take you through some of his warm ups. You can start slow with a metronome and pick up speed as your experience increases. Sample:

The MASTER of flatpicking with finger picks is Wayne Henderson of Rugby, Virginia.  He is also a master luthier whose guitars start at about 10k for a simple mahogany/spruce dread on the used market.  The guitars he builds are stunning, but there is about a 10 year wait!  Look him up on youtube.  If his playing doesn't leave you slack jawed, not a lot will.  Scott Fore has at least one Hendrson guitar, he won it at Henderson's annual flatpicking contest.  First prize there is a brand new Henderson guitar.

Love former flatpicking champion Steve Kaufman's instructional DVD's.  Man, can these guys play or what?
