So...somewhere (over in the acoustic forum, I think) we started a thread of all the members here who have a Larrivee electric guitar...for a time it was a very small club, indeed!

But it's starting to grow, with a few folks owning several of these.

So this is the place to "register" - tell us which model/s you own, year, and what their finishes/pickups are...pics are optional!

I'll go first:

Larrivee RS-4; 2009; Rootbeer burst; Larrivee humbuckers; left-handed
Larrivee RS-2; 2010; Satin amber finish; Larrivee P-90s; left-handed

:gotpics:

(Also - if the mods would so desire, this would make a good sticky thread...)

I don't have a Larrivee electric but I'd love one of those RS2's with just a wrap-a-around.

Really beautiful guitars. :nana_guitar

Hi there, I took delivery of a Goldtop RS-4 in late September, no mods, has the Larrivee humbuckers but it does have the vintage tuners! Loving this guitar, great sustain.

I believe you have to have ten posts in the forums before you can attach a pic ... but one of the mods can make it possible for you to do that if they so desire.

Not good ones...  :bgrin:

I have been too busy playing my FV to take any better pictures, even though I promise myself I will every day.  Here are some rehashed ones though:

I'll join the frenzy with my babes....

Both Factory stock

RS4 TSB flame ML Pups

RS4 Gold top w/bigsby & P90's (apparently one of only two made)
"Senior" member means "old" right?
Like over 50?

Too many guitars to list here.
Too few brain cells to be bothered with...

headsup,

Would love to hear your impressions, comments, observations, on the P-90 pups.  Regarding the P-90s vs the humbuckers, any preferences?

Kurt
"Badges?  We don't need no stinkin' badges."

Became a Shooting Star when I got my 1st guitar.
Back in '66, I was 13 and that was my fix.
Still shooting for stardom after all this time.
If I never make it, I'll still be fine.

Yup, I got a few things to say on the matter.

First my analogy but it involves memory work and a history lesson. For those of you who remember "The Patty Duke Show" (start sing theme song now)
the RS4 humbuckers is the "Kathy" in that show, reserved, proper, respectful, and very well defined.

"Patty"  on the other hand has attitude, an edge, and a rebellious streak to her, this is more what the P90 guitar brings to the gig.

Honestly, it can be a bit unmanageable compared to the humbucker RS4, and I usually save it for the last set for that reason.

Larrivee does NOT pot it's pick ups, (dip in wax) which I will have to do with the P90's soon, sometimes they can get a bit unruly and scream a bit.
At least the early ones did, not sure if this is still the case. I have been around long enough to have once owned an original 1958 Les Paul gold top, and for my money, right now, the RS4 blows it out of the water, primarily due to the obvious care and attention Matthiew gave to these guitars, and just as importantly; the long scale.

Hope this helps. of course its just my opinion others may differ, in truth, tone is all in the fingers.....
