Good work, Jim. And a good cause.
I was a Peace Corps volunteer in the Caribbean about 10 years ago.
Those are life-changing experiences.
Congratulations.

We are having earthquakes, the same size as Haiti, in New Zealand  in our second biggest city. The big one was last Saturday, and their have been many aftershocks since.Amazingly, there has been no loss of life. Many buildings in the city have collapsed, especially the older brick buildings. One interesting statistic is that on the day of the earthquake, the Christchurch Maternity Hospital delivered a record number of births.Twice as many as is usual. Say a little prayer for the children who are totally freaked out by the quake and all the aftershocks.

Nice Jim, very nice.

Carruth: has this been documented before?  EIL (earthquake induced labor)?  Should hospitals get vibrating beds to speed up labor? :bgrin:

Yes I have been reading about this. You folks seam to be handling it well. Your buildings are stronger and you have not had the loss of life, thank God.
In Haiti 250,000 to 300,000 were killed as a direct effect of the quake. 1 million lost there homes Many more uncounted lost arms and legs. It is a big problem. The rubble is still in the streets.

Good for you, Jim! You had a busy day today (Sept. 11) with the clinics.

I know you've been personally blessed through doing this, while also being a blessing to the people of Haiti.

May the good Lord continue to bless all your efforts in this ministry!

No idea whether the baby birth/earthquake correlation has ever been noticed before. Well done Jim, as regards the humanitarian aid to Haiti. You are making a difference. They are still getting aftershocks in Christchurch. New Zealands tough building laws, means we are only dealing with broken buildings and stressed out citizens and not deaths.
