I am trying to find info on a Larrivee I have that I don't know too much about. It was repainted a solid iroc blue but the larrivee label and Canadian label are on the headstock. I was wondering where the serial number would be located for this - i have searched the forum but only comes up with info on the current rs4 and all the acoustics. This is like a mid to late 80's Larrivee (like Kee Marcello played) that had been repainted. Also was wondering if say the tech repainted over the serial number would it be worth the trouble to uncover it? and could this be done safely? Thanks for your input!  :donut

In the following picture the guitar is an old RS4. The serial number is stamped on the back of the headstock near the tip.

I have and seen some 1980's Larrivee electrics with serial number markings in 3 different places.

1.)  It may be stamped onto or into the back of the headstock at the tip.
2.)  It may be stamped onto or into the back of the headstock around the middle.
3.)  It may be stamped into the fret board towards the bottom.

The earlier 80's Larrivees seem to have been stamped into the fret board or back of the headstock.  The later 80's Larrivees were stamp onto the back of the headstock.

I have found a serial number hand written behind a bolt on neck once and also have seen a Larrivee without any serial number.

On some Larrivee's if you hold the back of the headstock at the right angle you might see the indentation of a four digit serial number under the finish.

If it was my guitar, I wouldn't remove any finish to try and uncover a serial number.

My LT-1 has the SN impressed into the fingerboard, between the last two frets.

Awesome! I found the SN on the fret toward the bottom as described! SN 6349! Woohoo. Thanks so much for the info. Learning a lot about the Larrivee.  :thumbsup
