UPDATE -
Yesterday I left my 000-60 with my tech guy to install the Waverly tuners ( 6 individual tuners, not 3 on a plate).

part number 4074-G
http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/Guitar,_slotted_peghead_tuners/Waverly_Slotted_Peghead_Guitar_Tuners/Waverly_Machines_for_Slotted_Pegheads_with_Ivoroid_Vintage-style_Knob.html

He inserted the rollers and said they will fit just fine - no need for bushings.

He confirmed what I discovered - some of the 'old screw holes' from the 3 on a plate Pings
would overlap with the screw holes needed for the new Waverlys.

That is why I decided to let him do the work instead of doing it myself.
He will fill the holes as needed.

I'll post some pics when I get her back.

Thanks.  I would love to see it when it's done.  i might go for it myself on my OM-03.

Thanks.

you're welcome

I don't know if you have followed the entire thread -
but earlier I listed 3 different brands and some details about size / fit etc
for

Waverly   3 on a plate and individual
Gotoh
Grover

Also I provided HARD TO FIND information about button ( turner knob ) size.

QuoteThanks for the info.  Good to know all the options.

no problem- I wanted to document my findings so anyone else that was interested could
have this information.

I got the information for the tuners I had an interest in
Waverly, Gotoh and Grover.
There was at least one other option someone posted in this thread.
There may be others.

There are a lot of previous posts about tuner replacement for PADDLE HEADs
but not so much about SLOT HEADs like the Larrivee SD models and the 000 models.

- stay tuned for pictures when my guitar returns

My memory could be a bit faulty;  wouldn't be the first time, but I recall a couple of years ago there was a thread that showed a 000-50 slothead with Waverly three-on-a-plate replacement tuners on it.   I remember it because it was a lefty and I believe it may have been offered for sale by forum member Bhika.  I had previously bought an L-10 from him so it caught my attention.    Anyhow,  it looked about as nice as a slothead can look in my opinion.  I'll try to find that post and picture when I've got time to research it.

pretty good memory -

(search for ' WAVERLY ' once you click on this link

Yep, those are 3 on a plate Waverlys -  (that would be with the 'small'  5/8 inch wide buttons)

Actually that was a thread I started back when I had the Larrivee SD-50 -
I was going to change the tuners but ended up selling it before I did.

here is a great picture by someone who replaced the tuners on their SD-50 with waverly
These have the SNAKEWOOD buttons -  They were my first choice but they have small buttons
so I went with the 'vintage' model that has the larger buttons (not available in snakewood)
I think the snakewood looks really nice with the Larrivee.

here is another forum guy who replaced with waverly 3 on a plate with the ivoroid

Here is a quote by GMAN from that post -
QuoteI would venture to guess that all of larri's slotheads have the same dimensions, as they most likely use the same stock tuners.  That being the case, then yes, I am sure these would work on any slothead larrivee.  Please note though, that I had to drill out pilot holes on several of the mounting screws.  Not really a big deal, but it should be said.  No problem though, as the posts line up perfectly, no bushings required, as is the case with some other guitars.

...also one guy said be careful not to tighten the tiny screws too tight or they will not hold

Mine will be the Waverly individual (6 turners) with ivoroid and LARGER APPROX 3/4 INCH WIDE BUTTONS  (pics in a couple of days)

Very nice upgrade.   The gold machines with ivoroid buttons is a good combination on the 000-60.

Thanks !   I think they are beautiful - a perfect match for a beautiful Larrivee guitar  :bgrin:

These Waverly tuners are from Stewart-MacDonald

Waverly Guitar Machines with Ivoroid Vintage-style Knob item 4073-G  (gold)

They replace the Ping tuners that came stock on my recently acquired Larrivee 000-60.

The original Ping buttons are approx 5/8 inch wide and are 3 on a plate.

I wanted the wider - approx 3/4 inch wide buttons -
and those are available only on the vintage style individual tuners ( 6 ).

I'm VERY SATISFIED with the results and recommend them.   :+1:

Larry-

Your 000-60 looks great!  Is there any advantage to having individual machine heads rather that three on a plate, or is it strictly a subjective aesthetic preference?

Thanks Dave, I'll post more pictures of Lady Rose  when I do a review.

The only reason I got the 6 individual tuners rather than 3 on a plate
was so I could get the larger buttons  (tuning knobs).

All of the Waverly 3 on a plate tuners for my guitar had SMALL  ( approx 5/8 inch ) buttons.
Their 2 ' VINTAGE ' options both have the larger ( approx 3/4 inch ) buttons.

It is probably easier to replace 3 on a plate tuners with 3 on a plate tuners
than
replacing with 6 individual tuners -   fewer screws to deal with - and maybe less trouble with screw holes that don't line up.

Once they are installed - I don't know if there is an advantage either way - as far as  3 on a plate VS  individual.

Maybe some of our luthier / repair members could answer that.

If one individual tuner needed replacing -
maybe it would be easier / cheaper than having to replace a whole plate of 3-
I'm not sure - I don't know if you can buy just one individual tuner -  they seem to be sold as sets of 6.

It seems to me at the price they charge if one tuner went bad they would gladly supply a replacement.

BTW those tuners look outstanding on your 000, great choice.

Fred, I have named her Lady Rose.
I imagined what she would look like with the Waverlys installed.
In this case, reality did not disappoint - she's all I hoped she would be with her head adorned with gold.

QuoteBTW those tuners look outstanding on your 000, great choice.

thanks Mr L -
The gold compliments the color of the headstock wood so well I think
( I don't care for the color of the original Pings )

and
the color of the ivoroid buttons also compliments the binding around the fretboard.
( I prefer it to the black Ping buttons )

With these tuners, the fretboard binding, the maple binding on the body, the diamond fretboard markers -
well.....she is a beautiful lady.... inspiring my name for her.....Lady Rose

and with the pick guard removed - she just has that elegant, classy, perfect finger style guitar beauty...

...more pictures and comments when I do a review.
