I've been looking at this guitar at a local store (Littleton, Colorado).  I understand it is rare.  It sounds great and plays very nice.  I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this model.  This one has been strummed up pretty well.  I guess you could call it a "players" guitar.  Set up is low.  I set it into dropped D and it had a buzz on the low E string when played open.

I have no affiliation just hoping someone will pick it up so the GAS will go away!!

Here are some pix I took with my phone.  I can't see the serial number because the pick up battery is installed on top of it.

Any guess as to the years these were produced?  Any idea if the pricing  in line?

Kevin

Its a rare bird alright. I have a newer LJ-05 that has a great deep sound when played. The style of rosette was made in the late 80's early 90's

Hard to tell what 'player's guitar' means from the pictures? I can see some dings on the headstock. But the price is low enough that its probably worth a gamble for someone who wants something like this.

I called it a "players" guitar because it has some scratches and dings (not deep) in the front and back.  No dings on the neck. Neck is nice and straight.  Fret ends are smooth as glass, some wear around the sound hole.  As far as i can tell there are no structural issues; rattles, warpage, bridge pull. Just a great sounding interesting older Larrivee.

I'm crying because it's right-handed!!! At that price, it is an absolute STEAL!!!

I would also place it "early '90's" - it's trimmed out like my OM-05, only mine has an abalone logo on the headstock (can't remember if I custom ordered that or not?).

And it's right "next door" in Colorado, too...I'm up for a road trip!

Jumbo.  Just like the LS is a "small" L guitar, the LJ is a "Jumbo" L.

I see it's at Music-go-round.  I thought they went out of business.  I bought two guitars from them in the late 90's, but they closed up their Phoenix locations years ago.

They still have a store in Lincoln, Nebraska, too. Lots of low end stuff, like the Cort hanging next to the LJC...at the Lincoln store they keep the good stuff behind the sales counter - you have to ask to play it!

Both the LJ and J have 17inch lower bouts. The LJ looks like a bigger L, the J looks like a Gibson J200 (has a slightly longer body).

I almost didn't see the guitar behind it. Must be the camo top that made it so elusive...

They had 2-3 Phoenix locations, and used to be one of the bigger Larrivee dealers.  They also tended to have a nice (if eclectic) collection of used instruments.

I bought my Larrivee D-03R (new) from Music-go-round during their going out of business sale, and my OM-03RE (also new) from a different location a couple years before that.  Best sales staff ever, they would leave you alone with the guitars and let the instruments "sell themselves".

There are two Music Go Rounds in Denver that I know of.  One in particular is doing very well.  Recently doubled the size of their store.  Great staff.  Same core of about four or five people has been there for about six or seven years.

There is usually some interesting stuff in there. Some good deals.  A better chance at unusual stuff than GC.

A little jumbo cutaway, seems pretty versatile, and for that price, if it has a pick-up, I'd make some room for it.  Just got to stop buying so many :donut :donut :donut2  :donut2
