You remember right  :cheers

Indeed - just sold my LV-19 SE today (sniff). It has rosewood binding (and the palm tree inlay). Stunning silking on the top. I'll miss it, but I still have my LV-09, so can't complain!

Looks wise, I prefer Larrivee most other builders (e.g. Taylor, Martin, Guild, Collings, etc), though I do have a soft spot for Lowdens and McIlroys and a few others (I prefer understated good looks generally) and am generally pretty chuffed with my Larrivees. That said, my requests would be:
- I like the 2004/5 Larrivee look with the black tuner buttons (which cracked and Larrivee eventually replaced with silver ones ... which was a shame - ended up buying 510s with the ebony EN01 buttons instead) and the transparent pickguard (or no pickguard at all - I'm really not a fan of pickguards and the one on my L-05MT came straight off on arrival!)
- Ebony or maple neck binding and heel cap ... or no neck binding at all
- Mitred joins on the end of the neck binding by the sound hole
- Maybe a gloss fronted headstock on the 05 series and upwards
- I am a bit of a fan of a headstock blackplane veneer (though unsure it would suit a Larrivee...)

Larrivees LV-09, L-05MT and P-03; Lowdens S-7 (1988) (FOR SALE), O-12 (2004)  and Baritone (2009); McIlroys A25c (2003) and A25c custom (2010); Sada Yairi Soloist (1965) - nylon string; Parker NiteFly with Roland GK-2a MIDI pickup; PBC superstrat and 5 string bass; AER Compact 60.

I suppose I could quibble: I like marquetry better than abalone, like RW head stock veneer better than ebony, but...

There is a lot less room for improving the looks of my Larrivee than my own. :arrow

I think that applies to you, me, and quite a few others on the forum!

Yup, I shouldn't be complaining - as I'll have to cop that one too!  :crying:

Hey, it's all right - I might not have the looks, but I've still go my guitars!  :guitar

I want to think that my Larrivee 'improves' my looks :bgrin:

But I worry that it might be the other way around  :crying:

How about these LTD Snakewood models made for 12thFret? Yes, I know they are custom models, but still beautiful aren't they?

I like the look of the ivorioid fretboard binding fine but I think maple would look and function better. FWIW I'm glad they switched from the plain black or white binding. Rosewood might be a nice alternative for the higher end guitar but I think the look of the maple is a nice homage to Jean Larrivée's home country!  :thumb
