Hi Danny

Gotta a link?

I can't see it (looking for TSB)

I couldn't find the parlor again. But here is a link to a 000-50TSB
http://www.thepodium.com/    Once there click on used guitars and scroll down just a bit.
This is in our for sale section by a member here:
  http://www.larriveeforum.com/smf/index.php?topic=28883.msg268602#msg268602

Also I agree that BZ is seen mostly for Brazilian Rosewood

There are also links to pictures for the TSB (Total Sunburst)

Why the use of Taylors for illustrations?  I can give you a pic of my LSV-11.

Hi Danny
please post the picture and I'll use it. Thanks

I just used the Taylor pix because they were uniform size for comparison.  I'll have to do some fiddlin' to do the same with a couple of pictures of Larrivées.

Anybody got pictures of a Florentine cutaway?

Thanks, it is a true LS small body, but the last I knew Matthew Larrivee had it. I really liked that one, it was part of the inspiration for the F-III.

I guess I should add, my next LSV-11e was larger, which is also why we insisted that Larrivee build the F-III LS to the original small specs. There is a bit of history for you. It was Tad and I that would not let that go.
As it turned out my F-III is still slightly larger than my first LSV-11. But thats part of the hand made process (depth of the body etc.) Not everything at Larrivee is CNC controlled. Quite a bit of hands on building is still there. Thus different sizes of the same model does occur quite often. No big deal for most folks. But for me it's a killer. LS size is as big as I can go. (the original specs.)

Don't forget "CE."   No, that's not a cutaway with electronics -- it's a collector's edition.

Larrivee also used "SH" to denote slot head a while back, but they've since stopped using it I believe.   (Edit: oops, you already have that one.)

Hi jumpjibe,

I have added acronyms for the body styles (D, SD, P, L, LS, OM, OO).

SD -- slope dred?

Perhaps the single letters should also be included, e.g.:

W -- walnut

D -- dred

P or O -- parlour

etc.

Your list should be very useful.  Thx!!

I'm also looking for pictures of of a Florentine Cutaway Larrivee - thanks.

If you looked you might find one in a case near you....

but i would vote for Valdy's, or the Ex Bruce Cockburn C10's.... the orignals... one of the pair from Valdy's site;

;-)

Ok, ok.. back to work now...

ps... SO = Silver Oak?

Hi dermot,

Thanks for the suggestion. I ended up going with my C10 because I had a full body shot to kind of match up with Danny's LSV-11. After a little cropping I got them to about the same size so that the overall effect of the different style cutaways would be apparent. You can see that here: Cutaways

SO = Silver Oak?

That was already on the list, but I added a link to a note about that on the 12th fret site.

Hi everyone,

Here is the latest version:

Larrivée Terms and Acronyms

If you previously bookmarked the link to the older version - that link will still work.

I have expanded the name to Larrivée Terms and Acronyms  (previously Larrivée Acronyms) because I have added
  • Commonly used terms. This includes various tonewoods and materials that people have mentioned. Most of those have links to appropriate sections in the Larrivée site, or if I couldn't find something there, I tried to find something elsewhere.
  • Pictures of Cutaways (thanks Danny, thanks dermot for suggestions)
  • Pictures of a Slotted Headstock
  • Pictures of Larrivées TSB Sunburst

If anyone has suggestions for more terms or acronyms, I would be happy to add them. If you find a good link that explains a term or acronym, please post that here too. It would save a lot of time.

Once again - it IS a wiki and that means anyone can make changes. If you goof up with the formatting or something - I can fix that.

I am hoping that this will be a resource for everyone - but especially for people new to Larrivées or guitars in general.
