There is a known bug in IE8 where scroll areas don't work correctly. With this version of Simple Machines software the problem occurs when you type past the end of this text box and it begins to scroll. The text then scrolls up losing the ability to see where you're typing. This only happens with IE8 and a bug has been open at Microsoft for 6 months.

The problem is discussed on the Simple Machines user forum here: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=309186.20

The current solutions are: downgrade to IE7 or use another browser. OR, if using IE8,  at the top to the right of the address bar you'll see an icon of a torn in half piece of paper. Click on that which will turn on compatability mode and should solve that issue.

The next version of SMF v2 will have a workaround for the Microsoft bug.

testing it right now at the bottom of the scroll area... yes

it works in compatibility mode ok.. hooray.
