I got turned on to Joel Plaskett (and his band call the Emergency) early this summer and some of his music has quickly turned into the antham of my summer.  Take a listen here to a live show

Might be a bit Canadian for some but the guy is a great story teller.

Cheers,

I'm still on a Horace Andy high. Buying the albums up one by one. Hadn't even heard of him until 6 weeks ago and he's been doing this very tasteful, hypnotic reggae for over 35 years. There's always something new to discover just around the corner.

Cool.

I think Dance Hall Style will become one of my all time favorite albums. The bass lines just course right through me.

Discovered another great record this week, by a duo called Ghost Trains (Tim Ellis and Elijah Wolfenheart).  If you like Turin Brakes, give these guys a listen.  Great lyrics and fantastic acoustic guitars.  Their album is free to download from their website.  They have received glowing reviews recently in the UK, and will be supporting some big names on tour as the year progresses.  Big things in store for them i believe.

New CD Tin Can Trust
Listening to this one over and over.
Have been casually listening for quite a while. Then I saw them in concert here in Ann Arbor last year. What a great show that was.

I have to second Darrell Scott.

Amazing songwriter and wonderful guitarist. Youtube some of his solo performances - the guy is a one-man band!

Social Distortion...Saw them the first time back in 1985 warming up for Neil Young. Saw them last October at the Riviera Theater in Chicago...Have tickets to see them in May at the Egyptian Room in the Murat Theater in Indy...
SD is one of those bands that have been underground for years and have yet managed to survive and are still living it!
Simple music with tons of emotion.

I discovered a You-tube clip by Willy Porter. He is a Fender (Guild) endorsee and a gifted player/writer well worth checking out.

Another interesting artist is Seasick Steve - he needs some digesting but generally I find his stuff honest - and he only needs 3 strings on his guitar...

I (finally) got hold of their "Big generator" album on CD recently.
Had it on LP. One of my favourite Super groups, and Trevor Rabin is a South African...   afro
