I've been doing a few videos recently, which I haven't posted here, but you might be interested in this instructional video for guitar showing the tuning, basic chords and use of D suspended 4 (Dsus4) tuning - known as DADGAD tuning. The video features short interludes from "She Moved Thro' The Fair" and "The Lakes Of Pontchartrain".

DADGAD - a rough guide

PDF files for the DADGAD tuning & chords, and for the music, tabs and words to "The Lakes Of Pontchartrain" are available from my website at:

http://www.mjra.net/WillFly/tabs.shtml

The PDF for "She Moved Thro' The Fair" will be available shortly.

Cheers,

Will

Will, you're a legend for putting this up.  I'm gonna watch it carefully tomorrow.  Your videos are really well explained and genuinely useful.

The fingerstyle lessons are the single most helpful thing i found on the net in the last 2 years of learning.

Thanks for all the time and effort.

If anyone's interested, I used a Zoom H2 to record the OM - and I'm using Elixir strings and a fairly flexible Jim Dunlop pick - .6mm. The combination of these things has given a good result as far as the sound is concerned.

Will,

I see  your YouTube nickname is HenfieldWill.  Are you from Henfield England?  I stayed in Henfield overnight at a most charming B&B with my wife and 10 month old son - It was in May of 1995.

It was the last night for us on a whirlwind tour we made in 1995.  It is part of England I would love to visit again.

Oh  - very nice instructional video as well.

Just realised - I did a tab for this several months ago! It's listed on my website tabs page.

Cheers!

Thanks for turning me on again to DADGAD.  It's been a couple years since I've tuned up the axe that way.  The last time, this is what came out!

rockstar-not - just realised I hadn't responded to your Henfield question - yes, that's where I've lived since 1976, and it's a very pleasant place. If you're ever venturing this way again, let me know. :-)

Thanks, found it yesterday though I did "save a tree" and edit the PDF down so it fits on one page.

I really hope that I'll be able to one day return to the U.K. for some visiting.  If I'm in the south there, I'll definitely look you up.  I'm pretty sure this was the address of the place where we stayed:

Frylands Lane,WINEHAM,HENFIELD,HENFIELD,BN5 9BP

and it was called 'Frylands B&B'.  I'll have to check the B&B guide we used.
