Just watched Austin city Limits Hall of Fame. The one where Guy Clark and Townes Van Zant are inducted into the ACL Hall of fame.
Dwight Yoakom hosted and it really was a gas. Lots of good players, singers and at the end all of them were on stage singing a Townes Van Zant tune. Very well done, from the song Lyle Lovett did at the start, (Guy Clark's first ever song) which was beautifull. Right to the end.
I was about to turn ìn when it started, but Dwight introduced Lyle to sing a Guy Clark tune, and that caught my attention. So I ended up watching the whole show.
It's a keeper.
I saw the intro with Yoakum, but hit the sack. Oh well - need my beauty rest!!!

Thats it abuse me with another guitar I can't afford!!!!!!!!!!
By the way there are many time's that I'm here but for guest,70 0f them once.
So can I
-CENSORED-
about bass players....WTF is it with built in pre amps....never fit in the cavity right.they have millions of tiny ittsy bitsy wire thatgo in a million directions. Then you get installed and the
-CENSORED-
because they can't get the tone they want. You try to get them to understand that when your bass has a pre amp and your amp has a pre amp that your pre amping a pre amp. Then you have all these useless controls on you bass and on your amp,ON TOP of that your running 4x10 cab thats design to throw the signal 15 to 25 feet and your running 1500 watts but you can't hear yourself so you turn up,leaving the sound guy going nuts and the band.PLUS theres a thing call freq, cancalation so the other guys can't hear them selve's so they turn causing the sound man to push the board over and charge the stage swinging a mic stand.OR...
Your playing an acoustic but the bass player sitting in who doesn't really know the material but he got you the gig and he's playing louder then then need be............
I feel better now time for a scotch but I'm out so

Being a bassist in a few bands over the years, I feel your pain, Rob. Keep it simple, stupid. The vast majority of bassists choose the classic, straightforward (analog?) PB's or Jazz basses plugged into a classic bass rig for a good reason. Use the amp. for stage volume, line in it's output to the PA amp, let the sound man put it in the mix out front as he/she sees fit, and Bob's your uncle.
I suppose the electronic basses with their pre-amps and such have their place if you are a super-group playing in a stadium or need a certain sound for a certain song or a recording or something?

Hi Scott. I think we are about a half a world apart in terms of time zones. It's Sunday, Sept.24, 1:30 AM mountain standard time here in Edmonton Alberta Canada right now. I'm guessing it's sometime in the early afternoon Sunday, Sept. 24 where you are? I'm a night owl, big time.
