"Globalization"

That term always makes me think of the scene of a busy street with lots of people walking around with light bulbs for heads........ :?

I dont know why...

Yea, and why not "Sphereization" or "Earthization"....makes you think, huh :rolleye:

Globalization makes me think why do Americans and Australians use z instead of s in all their words?

Surely that statement has a shout at ending this thread :beer

Gday Ben,

Actually us Australians dont use z instead of s, I cut and pasted "globalization" from Penners reply, a native Wisconsin chap,  because I was too lazy to type it.

We use proper queens english too Gov'ner!

And as for ending this thread:  NEVER !  :beer

Cheers mate, Scott. :+1:

If we're now on the topic of written english, why do Americans drop the u in words like colour, neighbour, etc.?

O and U are close together on a qwerty keyboard, so maybe it is too easy to type uo instead of ou.

Just trying to justify it in any other way than laziness, ha ha.

And obe-wan, I should've known that, sorry.

Do you have scrabble in America? If must be easier. Z is a nightmare to get rid of, and you need to save the U's in case you pick up the Q late on.

I am pretty good at scrabble, but my spelling is not so great. My wife challenges a lot and I learn how to spell words correctly. ( I win too much though and she won't play very often)
I don't have trouble using Z or Q. My biggest problem is where to put a 7 letter word near the end.

No worries Ben my friend !

I also find that the spell check on my computer spells things as an American would, make it a little interesting sometimes.

P.S. My 3-1/2 son is named Ben.

This makes me think of 'The Man With the Light Bulb Head' by Robyn Hitchcock

*clears throat*

I'm the man with the lightbulb head
I turn myself on in the dark

I'm the man with the lightbulb head
I turn myself on for a lark

And how's about you, my pretty one?
Do you still roll and dream of bees?

How's about you, my pretty one?
Do you still dream of bees?

I'm the man with the lightbulb head
I turn myself on all the time

I'm alone like a queen in bed
With a barrel of vodka and lime

And how's about you, my pretty one?
Do you still smear yourself with jam?

How's about you, my pretty one?
Do you know who I am?

"Daddy, it's the man with the lightbulb head."
"Avert your eyes from his gaze, Junior, and we may yet be saved."
"But Daddy... it's you!"

"You're too late.I've come to turn you on. Huhahaha!"
"I'm the man with the lightbulb head

I turn myself on in the dark
I'm the man with the lightbulb head
I turn myself on for a lark."

"Excuse me, madam, is this your brain?"

And now I'm going to go listen to 'You've got Heaven' which is one of my fav Hitchcock songs ever. The live version is amazing.
