Hmm... I suppose the 3 options are the only possibilities? If they would make an all mahogany 00 instead of parlor I'd be on it in an instance. And there's not really any more expense involved, right?

Or an 00-03R instead of the OM. Can you tell I'm wanting another 00??

They don't have molds for an OO or a Jumbo any more.

The SD and the OOO were too costly.  The slotted headstock was also an expensive option.

So that is why we went with these options.

I am curious, how is it that they do not have molds for the jumbo's or 00's anymore?

Dave just had a bunch of OOs made and Jason just received a newly completed jumbo.  I certainly have no conection to Larrivee and I know that these models are no longer in stardard production but I am willing to bet that they could make them if they wanted to.

That said, I know Jason has gone through quite a bit of work to get these options.  Just that fact that they are willing to put out some 03 for us is a big deal.  Nothing wrong with saying what you would like to have, but I think the individuals heading up this project have done a great job assessing what people want and coming up with some cool options.

Thanks guys for all your hard work.

Mike,

Thanks to you & Jason for running with this.

Questions.

I presume the mahogany parlor will be the old satin finish style? Is that correct?

old style pickguard or new? [I'm not sure it matters to me]

Will there be any option for individuals to add custom features to their specific guitar, or will they all be 100% the same? Or is that yet to be negotiated. If the guitars will be built in Canada, I don't think they produce any guitars with inlay or gloss or abalone/herringbone trim today.

Rambling thoughts on my part. I don't play the maple parlor I have at all any more, and seldom even play either of the 2 OM's. I prefer either the OO or LS when I play a smaller bodied guitar. However, maybe I'd like the all mahogany parlor enough that I'd play it more? I certainly like the tone on the all mahogany Tacoma I recently obtained. Bottom line, I want one of the Larrivee Forum guitars irregardless of which one wins the 'vote'.

Is there a minimum number of guitars that the Forum members must sign-up for in order for this to happen? I believe that 10 was the number for the recent Tacoma Forum guitar, but this Forum has many more active members than the Tacoma Forum.

If they are making the guitars special for us I'd like an abalone rosette and some kind of special headstock. Larrivee has done this for some special orders before, fitness just posted one at elderly. We can buy any of these models for $800 or less I would think on a bulk order we should do a little better then a simple inlay at the 12th fret. And be able to stay under $1000.

Did anyone else notice the guitar on the rack, in the upper left hand corner, of Photo #1 in Hangfires excellent report on his Larrivee tour (http://www.libertybelles.org/larrivee_tour.htm)? Looks a lot like a Jumbo to me. Or am I wrong?

As much as I love Larrivee guitars and the company in general, they do claim some weird things...

They destroyed the jumbo molds, but yet Jason recently got a brand new jumbo.

They destroyed the 00 mold, but Dave got a bunch recently, FQMS got one recently, and those Hangfire photos show at least a couple more currently in the works.

They won't take orders for cedar guitars, but yet they keep making them (in very small numbers).

Early this year they said they were 'out of koa' for the year, but I swear I've seen more koa Larrivees pop up at all the dealers since then than I've ever seen before.

The thing is, bodies get started many months in advance. Sometimes 6, 8, 10 months even!
So yes, guitars show up that are discontinued and some rare woods show up.
I just recieved a fresh Satin Blackwood parlor today!
But there is NO WAY I can order a Blackwood. I'm just lucky that this one arrived now.
My special run of OO's was ordered almost a year ago!
So please don't think Larrivee is not telling the truth, because they are the most honest people you could ever hope to know.

I hope that clears things up a bit.

From what I've been told, it is not unusual for a guitar to take 2 years to go all the way through the manufacturing process.  If that's the case, that could explain the discrepancy.

However, it seems to me, that you could just make fewer of a particular guitar, rather than not making any at all.  Maybe do a limited edition.

I too, am curious as to some of the particulars on the mahogany parlour

- earlier mention was no satins for customs; can you confirm it'll be all gloss
- abalone rosette and bridge pins perhaps?
- description of 12th fret inlay
- chrome or black tuner knobs ?

Just got my satin Koa and love the size but perhaps Santa may be interested in the all mahogany parlour??  ;)

I noticed the C model also. I presumed that it might be a repair, rather than a new guitar. I don't know if repair jobs are kept separate from new construction? Does anyone know how that is managed?
