I Need Soviet Headphones! There goes another pair!

Now, with that said, let me offer up some advice that can apply to any headphone as it pertains to the 'dagnabbit, I yanked the cord out again' situation.

1.  Buy a headphone extension cord and use it.  This will only run you 10-15$ at Radio Shack. http://www.radioshack.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=headphone%20extension&origkw=headphone%20extension&sr=1

The way that you use it is as follows:  with your headphone cord, figure out a way to 'lock' it to your upper body by tying or clipping the cord to yourself.  Run the cord down the back of your shirt and run it through a belt loop - even put a loose knot in it to allow your head to move but if the cord gets yanked - it's staying on you.  The key is to allow the 'break' to happen where you plug in the phones to the extension, not in the headphone wire itself.

2.  With the extension - put an 'S' curve in it that takes up about 2 to 3 feet of extension total and tie the excess cord that's in the 'S' near but not exactly at both ends with elastic pony-tail ties you can get at the local drug store.  Someone earlier in the thread mentioned something somewhat like this - I think the DJ post.

3.  Buy headphones that have replaceable cords.  Our custom fit monitors have these but there are other brands as well.  Sennheiser over-the-ear headphones typically have modular, replaceable cord sets that just plug in to both earphones.  Here's a list of their models that have the replaceable cords:  http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/home_en.nsf/search.html?ReadForm&path=&start=1&searchstr=detachable

4.  Going wireless is not out of the question, but you probably will spend more money on the wireless system than the phones themselves.

The Soviet headphones arrived today. They were in between doors when I got home. Seems pretty fast to me. I like the retro look. Seem pretty solid. Plugged a pair in and listened to my recording of my RS-4. They seem to work well and even I sounded pretty good so there's that. I'll listen to Abbey Road and DSOTM and tell you what I think then.
